No, syllables are interpreted different in Japanese for example. The word 'Haiku' itself is 2 syllables in English but interpreted as three distinctive sounds or syllables in Japanese; as in 'HAI'-'KU' vs. 'H'-'AI'-'KU'. There's no real way of converting the structure if that makes sense. Sticking to a rigid 5-7-5 is almost certainly not a 'real Japanese' Haiku; there's no way to use a 'real Haiku' in any other language than Japanese.

haiku in English should not stick to the 5-7-5 pattern of syllables. That's because they don't even count syllables in Japanese, but sounds. The word "haiku" is two syllables in English, but counts as THREE sounds in Japanese. And that's just one of many reasons why 5-7-5 is problematic and even inaccurate for haiku in English. So the question begins with a faulty premise when it says "the same 5-7-5 syllable structure." That isn't accurate in Japanese to begin with, and it's an urban myth (alas, massively widespread) for 5-7-5 syllables to be applied to haiku in English.
