Opienanthony.com, saidit sucks and forums suck but the admin over there is fucking with the code to make it more reddit-like (Reddit is open source). It's gonna be awhile for that though. Even if we don't end up using it it people should go there and sign up, it will be nice to have a base away from Reddit so that everybody doesn't keep getting scattered when subs get banned.

I’m going to try to help the admin of the site make it more Reddit like and if that doesn’t work I’ll make my own Reddit clone (I build web apps for a living and I needed a side project to learn a new language).

The only hard thing is the subreddit homepage ranking algorithm. A lot of thought and work was put into ranking articles properly based on voting, comment ratios, and newness.

The other hard thing with any user content site is spam prevention. But shouldn’t be impossible.

Problem is: We may have no other choice but to throttle our autism a bit, and be smarter about the new sub, going forward. We’re gonna have to move on from the Pat shit, Logan...the “Jew and nigger jokes” will have to be throttled, and the Jocktober attacks - although a core reason why we’re here - will have to be delegated to multiple subs, not just one sub.

KIA is often targeted as a “hate sub”, because they don’t agree with the far left. Yet they’re never really under threat of shut down, because they run a tight fucking ship, with a point system that both users and mods use for submissions. It’s a system they both adhere to. And they get to stay on reddit, much to the lefts chagrin.

They only way we’re going to stay the caustic specter’s in the lives of The Cumias, Pat and so on...is if we first and foremost strive for LONGEVITY. That’s what we need to establish first. Which inherently means playing reddits game (it’s their sandbox). We can last, if we don’t give them a reason to fuck with us. We’re just gonna have to tone the autism down and play it smarter.
