The Greaseman rules
20 2019-08-02 by fo-da-fo-da-show
Only learned about the Greaseman through Ants great impression. The B-b-boys and Howard would bash the shit outa him, but I think he’s really great. Amazing voice and super creative. Way more of a real radio guy than Howard and O&A were. Totally worked solo too. Kind a wish Ant would go in a bit more of this kind of direction, not corny but creating more theater of the mind with his incredible talent and impressions. He’s got the range, But maybe he so far gone with all his political bullshit that is too late for our guy.

Yeh, & all the sound fx were live triggered carts, pre-stacked & planned but done live 'on the fly' not pre or post.
For some reason he never got a reprieve like O&A & some others, not everyone's style but a unique & incredible talent.

I noticed the tape carts and the old analog consoles and all the juggling he had to do while performing under old school network pressures. He really understood the engineering side and well as connecting with his audience. Running the whole show solo with out all the ease of digital recall etc. even with the amazing technology now so few of these guys seem to have any clue how anything works. Broadcasting is a dying art for sure

Florida fixture in the 80’s, but ya never heard Ron talk bad about him.

Yeah Ron’s a class act. Kinda above all the radio war stuffs

Was just listening to a Billy Staples bit and a caller wanted Ron's opinion on Stern's divorce. You can imagine how long that call lasted.

I remember when he was at DC 101 in the 80's also. He was super fucking popular in the DMV area. Howard and him were both on the same station, and put out some really groundbreaking stuff.
No Homo (or No Joe Cumia)

Always thought it was unfair how O&A bashed him. He was clearly a unique guy doing something different than any other show, they probably would have gotten along with him. I think they felt like they had to shit on him because of the things he said about them on Fox when they got fired.

It felt more like a general statement about all shock jocks being under attack. I never thought he said anything bad about them specifically. He himself had gotten in trouble for saying the Imus style racially insensitive stuff and they all bashed him for it which was weird especially considering they seemed to claim to be all about free speech. I think it was always just Howard stern style radio war competition elimination. Too bad..

Even Vos in-studio pointed out that Grease wasn't 'having a go', if I remember correctly.
Waddle doodle.

The b-b-boys always over sensitive and jumping to false conclusions. Bless Rich Vos

O&A were the most thin skinned pussies in radio

Billy West had the better Greaseman impression

Billy West said Grease was pretty much the inspiration for him Zap Brannigan character on Futurama

That fact made my day

The greaseman had gay sex with my father on our pontoon boat out on the Indian river inlet.
