I watched the trailer and realized it was 2019 and this is being released straight to Netflix.

Anyone thinking this movie is going to be good are just smooth brains.

Ironically a movie that it will probably be near to is Kill the Irishman. Decent but cheap and not well written

Well it's a €200mil Scorsese gangster movie.

Should be good

I was so disappointed by that trailer.

There are almost no modern Hollywood movies made that actually appeal to me anymore, and then one finally comes around and that Scuuuuuuumbaaaaaag Scorsese royally Motherfucks me!

Taylor Sheridan & Denis Villeneuve are the only guys I care about anymore. (Even though I hated his Blade Runner)

I actually haven't seen the new Blade Runner yet, but I completely agree about Taylor Sheridan. I've liked all of his recent stuff a lot; especially Hell Or High Water and Wind River.

Other than his stuff, the only other current movies I actually want to see are by the Coen Brothers, S. Craig Zahler, Paul Thomas Anderson and Tarantino.

I hated Blade Runner, I didn't like the plot/script. The production design and art direction was great, I liked Ryan Gosling and his character but I hated where they went with the story. There was no reason for Deckard to even be in the movie the way they wrote it, and all of his dialogue and scenes suck and don't make much sense. Plus he's reduced to basically a damsel in distress, I just fucking hated it. (Most people loved it, but I'm coming to realize people 'love' just about anything.)

Yeah, I had heard pretty good things about it from people, but that sounds like shit.. I think it's probably because damn near all that gets released anymore is big budget superhero shit that's just mass produced garbage or low budget horror movies that aren't even really scary. So anytime something comes out that's well made and a little bit more original than that, people think it's the greatest thing in the world even though it doesn't compare to really good older movies.

And then on top of all of that, almost nothing gets made anymore that doesn't have a heavy dose of PC virtue signalling bullshit in it. I'd honestly just rather stay at home and watch Heat or The Wild Bunch or No Country For Old Men for the 500th time.

Well get ready, because our lord and savior Mel is about to remake the Wild Bunch. Great.

Really? Holy shit, I hadn't heard that.

It's one of my favorite, and if anyone's gonna remake it I'm glad it's him.

I wish he’d just make something original. Wild Bunch should never be remade, it’s like remaking The Godfather.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I'm not a big fan of remaking movies either; especially not movies that are already classics like The Wild Bunch (or any Peckinpah movie, tbh). What I meant was that since Hollywood is as remake-happy as they are, they're almost certainly going to do TWB at some point, and if anyone is going to direct it, Mel is probably the best case scenario. Worst case scenario probably is somebody else gets their hands on it and it turns out like the Magnificent Seven remake from a couple years ago.

I'd love to see an orignal Western from Mel though. I'm a huge fan of westerns and the last one made that was even halfway decent that I can remember is Hostiles.

How great is it that every single Peckinpah movie that’s ever been remade has bombed. (Yet they STILL keep trying, even though they bombed when they came out originally)

Yeah, his movies were always kind of more about his own personal style than they were what was in the script. And I think they were great, but like you said, they've never been mainstream, popular films at all. You'd think at some point people would realize that they're not going to remake any of his stuff and be able to turn it into some kind of big hit.

Lol but if Mel does go through with remaking The Wild Bunch, even if it turns out to be bad, surely it won't be as godawful as Alec Baldwin trying to be Steve McQueen when they remade The Getaway.

Yeah that one was awful. The only ONLY redeeming quality was they showed Kim Basinger’s bush in her milf-y prime. (It was actually pretty damn well cast all the way around, Madsen in the Rudy part and Jennifer Tilly in the Sally Struthers part. It was just such a hollow shell of the original, one of my favorite movies of all time)

Taylor Sheridan rules

I always wanted to see PS2 Deniro

This is a strange thing to downvote

Is mr scorsese here?

I’m hoping for the best from Pesci, as he is the only one who hasn’t completely shit the bed in the last 20 years.

Turning down Horace & Pete is always worth extra points.

Probably because he's effectively been retired for the last 20 years, stepping away after appearing in classics like 8 Heads In A Duffel Bag and Lethal Weapon 4.

Don't forget Gone Fishin'

How could I.
