This might be the first thing from Netflix that isn’t a giant hunk of shit. It’ll also be refreshing not to have that overacting faggot DiCaprio on the screen for a change.
Every Netflix film has been garbage up until this point. I also expect this to be the first good one. Amazon has much better original programming. “The Boys” is phenomenal and is worth checking out.
It was such an emotionally raw movie. It's like Scorsese dropped every technique and fancy editing trick he ever did and just portrayed the events to convey the correct emotion, and his filmmaking instincts (from John Ford and Kurosawa) were so strong that they made the film as beautiful as it was. But the film wasn't about beauty or wonderful cool shots, but the intense fear and emotion and the characters and storytelling.
He hasn't made a movie worth a fuck since Hugo, for my money. That was the last movie he had any personal vestige in that felt like old Marty. Hugo was amazing. I couldnt even get through 20 minutes of Wolf Of Wall Street, and I cannot stand DiCaprio so I'm extra fucked.
De Niro should have retired in 1995, after Casino and Heat. It's all been downhill for him from there. Ditto Pacino. Casino was probably Scorcese's last great film too to be honest.
This looks fucking terrible. It's "Pacino being Pacino" and "De Niro being De Niro" that we've seen a million trillion times. These guys are too old and clearly don't give a shit, they should have made this movie 10 years ago. (He's had the rights to it since 06) Pacino as "Jimmy Hoffa" is the worst casting since DiCaprio as J Edgar Hoover, he embodies nothing close to Hoffa. The book is so good, and already they botched the scene where Frank talks to Jimmy on the phone for the first time, which was hysterical and amazing the way Frank described it. All I could think watching the trailer was "I wish David O Russell had made this."

Just finished that series yesterday. Knew nothing about it going in and really enjoyed it.

The Looming Tower was good too.

This movie is going to suck, Scorsese has completely lost it except for movies like silence. Wolf of Wall Street was embarrassing

It will be slightly better than mediocre and praised as brilliant. Such is the state of entertainment.

Is there anything this sub actually enjoys other than Norm and CQ? Jesus

Silence is a masterpiece. That was Scorsese at his very best because he wasn't trying to imitate the stuff he did when he was younger 30 years ago.

Silence was so good. The interpreter was such an asshole.

It was his version of The Horse Thief.

His performance on The Comedian ( 2016 ) was pretty OK, all 2 seconds of it.
So I think he has a bright future in Hollywood. Any day now..

I hope the movie is a bomb and that it’s universally accepted to be Jim’s fault.

Jimmy Hoffa really died after he broke his neck slippin in m'wig gluuuee
(And for extra art imitating life, De Niro had to wear LIIIFFTS because Frank was like 6'4 in real life)
1 McGowan9 2019-07-31
Exactly. Dean Norris or Chris Bauer + a crewcut hairpiece would make a good Hoffa. Fucking Pacino? Awful casting.
1 Doc_McCoyXYZ 2019-07-31
PESCI would’ve made a great Hoffa! He fucking IS Jimmy Hoffa.
