I think it's a bit of a misnomer to call Anthony stupid, as he clearly demonstrated his above average intellect and wit on radio for several years. I beg to differ. You're right that his upbringing would have stunted him. But I don't think Ant has above average intelligence at all. He's average or a little below average. Being knowledgeable about a few things he was semi-obsessed with (i.e. NASA projects) gave people the impression he was far more intelligent than he actually is. But being knowledgeable isn't the same as being intelligent. If you think about it, when did he ever have an intelligent original opinion about anything? It was 100% regurgitated. He can repeat what he's read but he can't teach anyone anything or explain anything in complexity. He has an extremely rigid thinking process which is related to lower IQ scores.
