I get uncomfortable thinking about his life. It’s a mixture of unmitigated embarrassment and genuine sorrow because there’s absolutely zero chance for his comeback.

I think it’s a visceral human reaction from our perspective because we all fear becoming him. I don’t know about you guys but if I were lucky enough to ever identify Joe Materese signs in myself, I’m taking my life immediately to redeem whatever dignity I had left.
