Saying fag should be completely acceptable seeing as it’s supposed to mean a bundle of sticks. I’ve heard(but don’t remember where maybe you can refresh my memory) that people referred to someone as a faggot when they were being difficult because the word doubled as a term for a tedious activity, but it was also used as a verb for gathering sticks a long time ago. As someone who does manual labor, I wonder if people started calling effeminate men fags because it was easier to send them to go perform tedious activities while the more masculine men carried out the heavier tasks of the day.
