I just saw him last night and was sitting with one of the 7 Patreon guys, I swear to god. You get virtually nothing for signing up, it's basically Jay just saying "listen...give me money." Nick DiPaolo does that, so does Dean Delray and a few other comics. They literally just say "give me money," and people do. I'd have more respect if Jay just did this. He hasnt given a shit about his podcast for at least a year, they're sporadic and recorded on a fucking iPhone.

(Jay still puts on a good live show/stand up, I cant begrudge him that. He was funny as fuck, recycled bits/stories aside. Fucker does a 90 minute show.)

It's the model for a lot of shows now. It's one of those "support us if you can" sort of things. If people have a legit vested interest in seeing more of certain content, they will chip in a few bucks per month. And if you are actually dedicated and produce a prolific amount of consistent content, the people will answer your calls to support. My show is only 9 months old and we're doing alright on that model so far. Helps to push it going into every break though.

I don't mind that, but a Patreon masquerading as totally bullshit "bonus features" is so disingenuous. He hasn't given a shit about that podcast in at least a year, I used to love Mohr Stories, he's such a good interviewer when he's on point. But somewhere along the way it seems like he really just stopped giving a shit about it. He can't even be bothered to get a basic Zoom H6 and some mics for under $1000. You can take that set up anywhere. (Even into the city!)
