Like it or not, if there is a sub reddit dedicated to a topic or people that your podacast covers, isn't that the first place you'd look to in order to build an audience? If someone Photoshops a picture of Opie, should they post it randomly or in a sub reddit where people know the guy? People like Joe Rogan are at a point where the current subscribers/fans will share his videos enough that he doesn't personally need to promote anything. People with a small audience don't have that luxury so they have to start somewhere, preferably in a place with a related audience that talks about the same topics...

Yeah, I was gonna mention it would take at least twice the effort to incorporate that element, if you replied. And you did, so I have. The reason I agreed with the comment was because the audio cues are on point, and I feel like it would make the product more immersive if you extended that with a visual element. Kind of like a more polished VideO&A, or similar to how RLM punctuate their content with visual stingers. The duration is also good; sticking with a 20-25 minute bulletin format leaves your listeners with talking points. It also makes it an easy listen, as it's as rapid as the pop culture you're reflecting.

It's a paradox for me, especially here. If I say support me on patreon, i'm chastised as a money grubbing Jew. If I say nothing, people just want more for nothing. So, work twice as hard for double zero or have people tattoo a number on my wrist. Isn't this fun?

The Patreon link is included in the description and you've had about 100 views so far, just on youtube. Not sure about the take-up on other outlets where it's available. But it would appear you're gradually building an audience. I intended my point as expansion if, and when, that becomes more viable. It would definitely add to the whole and create more reason for repeated viewings of any particular episode someone had initially enjoyed. It's still very early as far as the whole project goes, but if you can establish and grow an audience it would best serve the viability and longevity, going forward.

I agree that an on camera presence is unnecessary, just visual clips or pics related to the audio cues and discussion. You're only two eps in, so it's worth careful consideration, rather than sloppy execution. I also appreciate that you'll need to put up the numbahs to justify the extended workload. Monetise the youtube: whether you do, or don't, people will still find an angle to insult you're heritage, so fuck paying attention to that noise. The Terminator segment you mentioned may be a good way to experiment with that. In closing, everything we consume is now loaded with carcinogens, so you may as well enjoy some nicotine as we wait for cancer to curse us all.

If I had to try and describe what it is I'm trying to do I would place it somewhere inbetween Radiolab meets Alt-Shift-X. The thing about Alt Shift, is that I really like his work and I don't want to just sort of, copy his style, so I need to find my own.

There's no harm, in the beginning, to emulate your influences; it's what all creative people do on the road to discovering their own voice.
