Italian Americans that are “proud” are so goddamn obnoxious. Not that Artie is (I don’t think I don’t listen) but I can’t stand how they think they’re actually from Italy. It’s always the racially ambiguous guineas with Southern Italian heritage too. They should divide the north from the south into separate countries.
If you're the descendant of a bastard Medici, you have a ton to be proud of. Everything South of the Lazio region, however, is olive and lemon orchards and vineyards surrounded by the dregs who harvest them.
Your average Genoan and Florentine wishes they could rid themselves of Sicily. And Italian-Americans are themselves a deplorable spinoff of them. So by all means, guineas in Staten Island should continue painting murals of San Marco square as if even their ancestors played some role in its financing, design, or construction.
