It's possible that while there was pre-show banter going on he had a brain fart and selected Opie as recipient while not concentrating. Also, I believe he said "it was meant for his girlfriend" as to try and absolve Jimmy of any heat from the destroyer, though it was actually meant for Jim.

If Ant is passive aggressive why would he act in a purely aggressive manner?
If he knew that he was sending that text to Opie then he had to know the fallout was coming and Opie would question it which welcomes conflict and we know Ant hates conflict.
