Ant threatened to ban the original OA sub for $5000 after someone posted a video of black men dancing with a casket at a funeral following Ant's mom passing. In fact, all Cumia attacks to take down the sub where failures until a scientology author named Patrick Tomlinson began exploiting reddit's copyright policy to ban subs (Note the original sub wasn't banned, but closed by a corpulent drug addict who was caught on tape stealing a vape box). After that Joe Cumia (AKA James Hefner) began copying what P Tomlinson did to ban each new OA sub, thus leading to the great sub migrations of 2019. Regardless, this bounty for $5k on the sub was crossing the line. Also, Ant has become a drunken dementia victim who up until very recently paywalled basically every second of his show. Both Cumia brothers also didn't see their dying mother 5 years prior to her lonely death.
Jim became a pandering ass who joined fellow laurel-rester Sam Roberts to create the atrocious Jim and Sam show, which is really quite awful. Jim's refusal to take a stance on an anything in this political climate demonstrates he is truly spineless.
It was during this time that Opie posted some pretty brutal and hilarious tweets trashing both Ant and Jim. Jim in particular, referring to him basically as a prop comic who was once funny. This led to an awakening of the sub as the who the true hero really is. Opie also sort of revealed himself to be a decent, humble person through his live streams, etc.
