It's become very clear that Opie, while not the funniest, was the force behind the whole thing. He knew how to pick talent and keep them on track, setting them up and playing off them to bring the best out of all involved.
Opie would've and could've picked a lot of similarly funny, working class guys and formed a program and had success. Especially if he picked out any of a number of edgelord "oh no he didn't" comedians that were around the same time Norton broke.
