I watched some random assortment of the first two seasons because my buddy, who is an otherwise brilliant guy, vouched for it. Fuck him.
The quality of the animation is impressive but it tries way.. Way.. WAY too hard to be "high brow while not taking itself too seriously! ;-)" type of faggotry. Its fans literally believe they understand the science behind a multiverse while thinking shit like "Gazorpazorp" and edgy characters name Abradolf Linctler, Mr Poopybutthole, and some character named "Fart" is FFAWKIN HILARIOUS.
They also non-ironically say it's 'the most original cartoon ever,' while being wholly ignorant that literally EVERY episode is a ripoff and basically a shitty fucking mashup of two pop culture plots in one. Literally the whales-with-balls mockery of Family Guy.
IIRC, there were TWO SEPARATE fucking Jack and the Beanstalk episodes, an Inception vs Freddy Kreuger that was literally stolen from South Park, a Love Potion #9/Scanners/Dead Ringers ripoff, a Risky Business ripoff, A Wrinkle in Time ripoff, Total Recall, The Purge, Big Trouble in Little China, Fantastic Journey/Jurassic Park....
I just came up with a new episode... Rick and Morty go to an alternate universe where they are exposed to a dark and ancient power that destroys everything it comes in contact with.. until Morty. Now that this power is becoming unstable, she releases it with destruction and anger and it results in every dead animal, feral and domesticated, extinct and alive, to reanimate and become way more aggressive and then the sister dies and they bury her in the... "Pat Cementapoopoocaacaadoodiediarrhea" and she comes back all evil and kills the mom who is buried in the
