It's hard to express just how much of a loathsome weasel Patrick Tomlinson comes across as on Twitter. He represents everything which is wrong with left-wing commentary online. I'm a liberally minded gay graduate in physics and have to shield my eyes reading this self-congratulatory astrodumbfuck's feed.

He pats himself on the back for 'saving the world' but his feed doesn't show a SINGLE original thought. Anybody who disagrees even slightly with his completely basic analysis of the world gets inappropriately labelled as a Nazi or a 'monumental idiot'...and then blocked before they can reply.

No Pat, you are the monumental idiot. You are so stupid that I've actually had to take a break from finishing writing my master's thesis on exoplanetary atmospheres to vent how repugnant your intellectual spirit is. I've never come across anyone who is so lazily arrogant without even a hint of merit to support their smugness.

The desire to infantilize those who disagree with you is one of the reasons why the political climate has become so polarised. Hell, I broadly agree with your politics and think that you're a complete moron, Christ knows what anyone further right than me thinks.

sometimes im left legitimately wondering whether he's an elaborate character made to hit all the marks:

-broken, pop-culture consumed life

-trouble with women

-seemingly sudden obsession with politics after 2010

-cant shut the hell up despite the constant "white peepoh, SIT DOWN AND LISTEN" rhetoric

-still lets out a few oopsie-slurs when dealing with more masculine personalities

He just comes across as phoney and without genuine empathy or nuance. Being a 'political firebrand' is just a vanity project, deep down I doubt he really gives a shit about anything he writes.

I once got drunk and pretended to be a gay Tanzanian safari driver on instagram who liked learning English through his books. Didn't say anything related to the sub etc., just commented with sweet compliments and he blocked me immediately.

If he got as much attention parroting racist horseshit then he'd just do that instead. The content doesn't matter, only the instant gratification of receiving likes and retweets. His sci-fi writing sounds equally masturbatory.
