I pray this doesn't become another "shit on Opie" subreddit that /r/opieandanthony has turned into

Those people have been shitting all over Op for way too long it's amazing they consider themselves fans. I just don't get it. Each member of the show played an important role in making it.

People also bitch that it has gone "down hill", I've only been listening to it since I heard Patrice tell the story of how he was accused of rape, that is what hooked me, and have been listening ever since.

It hasn't gone "down hill" it has just changed. I never enjoyed Stern because he would just have naked women in studio, that you can't see, and "hoo hoo" at their bodies, big fun. O&A was winding down from stuff like that when I started listening and slowly moving towards more funny conversation, light reviews on stupid news stories and interviews, real interviews, with celebrities. With Opie occassionally blowing that up if it was a snoozefest.

I guess my ramblings just lead me to, don't shit on Opie, don't shit on Jimmy, don't shit on Anthony because they are/were all just doing their jobs and trying to entertain. If you didn't/don't like it you can always change the channel.

TL;DR Don't shit on Opie because he is the show as much as everyone else

Alright quick, don't think about it just give me 5 reasons you like Opie on the spot.

He's created a show that has created countless hours of entertainment for me.

I can relate to him. Not his current lifestyle, but I can see why he thinks about a lot of things. We both had our first kid within months of each other. not that he knows or cares, but it was great to hear him talk about having a kid. I'm also 17 years older than my SO, so I can relate to that aspect of his life.

He moves the show along, and keeps it from stagnating one on topic for 4 hours.

He is funny. Yes Jimmy and Ant are probably funnier, but he is funnier than most people, and he is really good at setting up jokes and topics for the other guys to riff on.

I have met him in person and he seems very down to earth. He was extremely approachable when I met him at an event.

He has succeeded in Radio doing what I wanted to do for a living. It gives me happiness to know someone else got it done. (I never even tried lol)

edit: he seems to be one of the most loyal people I have ever seen in the entertainment industry and I respect that.

He does things I could never do, like thrive in an uncomfortable interview or situation on the radio.

I was asking OP, but alright.

Those are all fairly legit reasons which I wasn't expecting.

I figured you were asking Op, but i figured I'd put in two cents. I know a lot of my answers were subjective, but I guess most preferences are.

That's deep.

The OP is Opie or somethin.

I agree, hopefully ppl have better things to do than come to a new sub to spend time bashing someone they don't like.
