So that's the problem: what exactly was the hierarchy among the four? Was it Von, or was it producer guy? If it was Von, why bring the producers in? Movies have directors, television shows have showrunners, someone has to have the final say.
What do I think happened? This little fucking committee disagreed on whatever. What to shoot, how to spend the money, fly to Brazil and London. Since nobody could agree, production halted. Eventually the producers said fuck it and negotiated a sale (more $$$) to Comedy Central.

I agree they probably underestimated what was involved in these projects but I think it also shows what lazy, careless fucks they are. If either Von or Norton wanted to work hard at it, they could have gotten their projects done.

Patrice literally prided himself on being a professional “bridge burner,” alienating anyone with any influence in show business, and having a willingness/tolerance to only do the bare minimum to stay in entertainment (I think I remember that he would turn down gigs that weren’t in NY/NJ. Why should there be a benefit 7 years after his death to give money to his mom?
It’s not like Artie supporting his mother, where she stopped working for 20+ years while Artie was financially supporting her. Patrice probably threw her some money here and there, so why is he/she deserving of a benefit for a longer period than he was actually successful? Is it such a tragedy that he never got his “big break” and was “so close” (he wasn’t, he would’ve 100% self-sabotaged it)?
