The worst part about this stupid show is that it isn’t just another shitty generic story. It started out as really promising. The characters were compelling, the writing was intelligent, and the story was brutal. The not-so-subtle feminism was there early on, but it didn’t really detract from my enjoyment of the show. It seemed like a waste of energy to get worked up over it since the rest of the story was so good. And I just assumed that once these characters were fully developed, they could just do their thing and we wouldn’t need to be constantly reminded how badass they are for doing it. Well here we are, 8 years later, and even though basically every strong character or person in power is a woman, the show still needs to beat you into submission with the oh-so-edgy message that women are strong, smart, and underrated - and men are weak, stupid, and arrogant. It’s hard to remember what I even liked about this show when I’m cringing so much from the cheap, self-indulgent feminism that seeps into the dialogue. I really don’t understand what there is to gain from having these cheesy girl power moments this late in the game. At least in the earlier seasons it kind of made sense because most of those characters still had something to prove. But I guess now it’s just to give the fangirls something to cheer and “yas queen” over. Not only does it taint the quality of the story, but it also guarantees that the show will feel extremely dated in the years to come. Thanks for nothin, douchebags.

Now that we have that out of the way, I completely agree with everything you said. But it's not even the subtle feminist overtures that the writers make that pisses me off, I'm desensitized to it for the most part because every TV show is like that. I honestly think the showrunners (that Benioff guy and his Jewy partner) are the Opies of HBO... they got EXTREMELY LUCKY getting the green light to make that show, and I'm convinced the ONLY REASON it was any good to begin with is because they had like 5000 pages of source material to work with from a guy who clearly knows how to tell a story.
As soon as the television series outpaced the book and the writers had to start relying on their own imaginations to create more content, the entire fucking show nosedived like a Boeing 737. The characters are just empty lifeless husks now, the plot holes are wider and deeper than a Vegas strip hooker's vagina, and the plot itself has literally not advanced at all since Season 5. I fucking hate this show now and I'm pissed at myself for even investing the time and energy to write this fucking screed because this shit is literally not even worth my time.
