I really think Barrie Dunn was one of the engines behind a lot of the humor that worked. Actor producer and writer, when he left the jokes took a real downturn.

Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys is the absolute peak of the series in my opinion, that early scene with them in the dump with Ricky complaining about seagulls and then they're cracking landfill lobsters with the butt of their guns, there's so many amazing comedic beats in that one scene alone.

The writing was the brilliance in it. The subtle humor. Eventually the act got old and they didn't decide to kill it.

It's a shame because they were very talented during the peak years.
