I have a theory that Reddit's some sort of scam to keep somebody's friends employed. Think about it - it's a site where all the content and moderation (and even some of the source code) is provided for free by the users. It needs a couple of programmers to fix any bugs - given that it has had every feature it needs for years - some sysadmins to replace any dead web/database servers (bearing in mind it runs on Amazon's AWS, so they do all of the actual hardware maintenance, so deploying a new server means simply clicking a button), an automated script to roll over on DMCA requests and some admins to remove actual death threats (which Reddit - as a carrier, not a publisher - isn't liable for anyhow). We're talking maybe 50 staff tops; assuming 24/7 support and outsourced legal, HR and accounting.

But, no - somehow Reddit needs 230+ staff, most of which seem to be involved in either writing code nobody wants (the world's shittiest video streaming, a site makeover nobody asked for that makes it worse) and defending sea mammals from fictional threats of nuclear oblivion (a fine use of paid employees, given that not only wouldn't it stand up as a legitimate threat in court, but even if it did Reddit wouldn't be liable).
