THEORY: The posters there are new to discovering the old show, so they’ll just post clips unironically. But a community that listens to O&A will become increasingly hostile with time, its simply in their nature. So SpaceEdge will one day have his hands full with pests trying to spread the virus and then we will join forces.

I'm pretty sure he just did that to nuke it. I don't think a moderator can delete a subreddit outright, so that was probably the closest he could get; demod everyone but himself, make it private, and then never accept invites from any users. it's effectively dead that way. "private" is probably misleading in this case, I think it's just shut down.
