So the old sub isn’t just private but completely deleted? Like every post and comment ever made there is now gone forever? I just looked at my own posting log and there is a huge gap where 2+ years worth of posts and comments and just gone. So we can’t even see what we ourselves posted in the old sub?

It's private. If you're not a member of a private sub, you can't see any posts made in that sub, even if you made them.
