The only reason i'd want to be a mod is to make absolute sure that ABSOLUTE MINIMAL moderation actually takes place, the bare minimum required to keep us on reddit, and to remove obvious spam, that's all that's justified.

That was how I tried to do things. Then Patton Oswalt posts started getting deleted. Then we fought for two weeks over Indian street shitters. It's fucking ridiculous. Unless it was blatantly against the rules, I approved just about everything regardless if I agreed with it. Today, I have had people shitting all over me for not speaking out - this shit happened while I was at work - did I ban them? No. They want to call me a faggot, let them. It's the fucking internet.
The thing is, you only get offended when their criticism is actually totally true IRL and youre completely in denial about it and emotionally weak and have no foresight or moral constitution, so thats when people start thinking they can control the waves of the internet.
