No one has been banned (so far)---there was a reddit wide issue

👻 Posts keep getting "de-indexed" from the subreddit or deleted. 😵 ☠ ☠

Wait 'til the admins are asleep 😴

maybe but it was a site wide issue as well

Exactly. My likes/dislikes aren't registering on new posts in other subs. But register just fine on old posts in this sub and others.

Come to think of it though, it would be somewhat effective of Reddit to disable likes/rankings for a particular sub (like ours).

there's a lot of ways the could fuck with us, but it would take customizing and thats a lot of effort for 1.5k users (with a coupld hundred determined autists). You have to remember reddit is one of the largest sites in the world, with >300 million users. They can't exactly create manual use cases like this without great cost and most likely CTO/board approval.

Actually, I don't think it would be to take away something like ranking permissions from a particular sub. Something like that isn't a customization but a feature request within their software. Being a little familiar with their software before they closed-sourced it, I don't think it would be more than a sprint of work (assuming they do something like agile development iterations) and would be a good way for them to discourage bad behavior.

seems you know what you're talking about....but just from my experience with managers and execs in silicon valley I don't see the board approving this for such a small part of the user base. What we see is generally shit like the post about content policy changes and then banning based on the rules. Even a short spring like that needs approval from higher up and the cost benefit for the investors just isn't there.

The reason being, these content changes and rule changes fix what the investors and execs care about. Most people are not going to to sub for months to years like we are. Again….just making a guess based on my experience.

Even a short sprint like that needs approval from higher up and the cost-benefit for the investors just isn't there.

Just about every organization I've worked, something like this would be up to a particular team when deciding what features/enhancements they wanted to work on to meet a higher level goal. For example, the exec level would set several broad goals for a release iteration, one of which might be something like "reduce bullying" That would trickle down through PMs and eventually to individual teams for suggestions on how to "reduce bullying". A feature such as "ranking restrictions per sub" could easily be something conceived by the PMs and/or engineers to fulfill a broader exec goal.

We're both kinda talking in the dark here since neither of works for Reddit (well, at least I don't!). So, same as you, I'm just speaking from my experience.

My other account got a three day ban.

What a fantastic coincidence
