He lucked into too much success too early into his career, and which was never commensurate to his actual talent. Kind of like Kevin Smith. It nurtured his worst tendencies, especially his narcissism and sense of entitlement.
He never grew creatively or in the business because he didn't have to. O&A's platform gave him a steady paycheck and a large audience that would always pay to see him, regardless of much (or how little) effort he put into his act.
The key difference between the two is that Smith has maintained his fanbase over the years. Babyboy has been passive aggressively alienating his with awful radio and side projects for the past 6 years.

"The Opie & Anthony Channel" was charging the same rates as "Book Radio."
Call SXM and ask about advertising on Jim & Sam. See what kind of numbers you get back and ask yourself, "why is the 2nd hottest show so darn cheap??"
