Well Ant was very new to radio at that time. Though I do wonder why they didn't split in c.2009, it might have worked out better than it did five years later. Although TACS and AA has proved that Ant is not suited to a first mic, staring uncomfortably down the camera lens, driving the topics and his same old boring talking points and rants.
You didn't even need TACS and AA - you could hear it during every Nopie show. Ant and Jim were funny on their own, of course, but the actual steering of the ship (brothaman) was plodding and forced. It wasn't simply a "better" show across the board. It reminds me of the day when Ron put Fez in charge of taking calls.
