Well something that has no other source than a guy who wasn't in Afghanistan during the 1980's probably is not very accurate.

The Mujihadeen were a bunch of Arab/Paki volunteers and local goat herders who were big fans of Islam. They were known to chop off hands every now and then, but claiming that they would " Gang rape captured Soviet soldiers " is beyond silly. The Mujihadeen actually had a decent reputation for treating prisoners of war somewhat well.

I've noticed there's a lot of Western media/sources that likes to portray the Mujihadeen as savage(Despite treating them like angels during the war). But it simply wasn't the case, yeah they were a bunch of radical Islamic terrorists, but they weren't skinning Soviet soldiers alive as I've heard some claim before or raping them as you're now saying.

Same goes for the Soviets. Most of the troops in Afghanistan were not Russian, they were Central Asians and Ukrainians/Balts. They were given courses on Islamic law and local customs and mostly their duties were to defend the cities and highway and advise the local Afghan Pro-Communist forces. They were a bunch of conscripts who wanted to go home and their job was to prop-up the Afghan government. But you have these retarded stories about the Soviets trying to trick Afghan kids into blowing themselves up by making bombs look like toys? It's Cold War era idiotic propaganda.

Neither side in the Afghan War was as " brutal " or " sadistic " as history has made them out to be. You had indiscriminate bombing, women being raped, executions, torture, etc. But that's to be expected from any war.
Still funny that Obama thought getting him back was going to be a big PR victory, then it turns out he got captured because he went AWOL and had to be court-martialed.
