A reflex sight could be more helpful with target acquisition, especially in low light. They're also very popular with trap shooters. This crappy $25 airsoft gun red dot is pretty useless though especially considering all he had to do was find turban, point, and shoot. Classic tacticool modification to a gun.

But I've owned guns my entire life and like to think I know at least a fair amount about them. One of the legitimate uses for a red dot/reflex sight is to help aim at a target quickly in lower light, they're much easier to see than iron sights at night. Miniature red dots are catching on even with regular everyday carry builds because a big concern is fast target acquisition in bad lighting which is exactly what an RMR or the like is great for provided you have lots of practice. I personally know a few people who have pistol optics and I know a bunch of competitive trap shooters who use those Burris Fastfire sights. I think it's really just a way to pimp out your gun and flex your money but there are some legitimate reasons to use them.
As for this guy maybe it's some $1000 Aimpoint he's using which would just be overkill considering what he was doing wasn't exactly precision work but it just looks like some cheap Chinese airsoft gun sight which would make sense because he obviously had a few screws loose.

Not as gory or bloody as I thought it would be. I thought that there would be blood and guts flying everywhere, but you barely see any for the most part.
