Was “Gone ‘Lectric Shock OJ” ever considered funny?

I cannot believe Opie was impressed by that garbage. The video looks like it was made by some low rent Idaho militia buddies to share around. Naht funny.

Opie only realized that American rubes would think it was funny. He knew it stunk.

Opester is always two steps ahead of the common man.

I mean...hack shit is still very popular. So yes.

This was before the internet. I don’t even think cable tv offered more than 50 channels back then.

Nobody should be judged for anything they did in the 1990s.

Only to racists

I’m a racist and I think it sucks.

Brotherman saw this self-hating blackman and tried to help him out and turn his life around.

Brother Dope and Tranny Fuckin Anthony would have been shamed out of their HVAC jobs if that garbage came out today

The song itself is reasonably clever. It never made me laugh out loud, but it’s not stupid and unfunny like most parody songs.

It’s ruined by the shitty production value and the blackface. Racism can be funny, but even if you didn’t know Anthony, you could instantly tell his racism is obsessive and ugly. He tried way too hard to be shocking and offensive. He’s an angry, miserable prick, and that anger sucks away any humor value the video may have had.

'Si-tting on 'the 'dock of the 'bay

vs

'Go-nna 'lec-tric shock ___ O 'J

Nigga can't even get his metre right. Literally anything is better than the stretched syllable. I just spent 45 seconds brainstorming some: __________-

Gonna shock electric OJ

LA is gonna shock OJ

Cops will get to murder OJ

Gonna flip the switch on OJ

Goldman will'lectroshock OJ

Playing fluid singing strained.

It definitely aged well, although I always thought OJ din do nuthin, most people agree he deserved the conviction and execution he received.

The song itself was okay, but the video was fucking trash. Horrible production values and the real Pissy Eyes on display for everyone to see then. He's always been a miserable fuck.

shit like that is exactly why boomers are so smug. back then low effort shit like this could get you a radio gig, because the bar for everything was so low.

Sam's an untalented smug millennial who has never been funny. Not even accidentally. He has a radio show and a WWE gig.

No. First of all, the entire premise is flawed, as no one ever discussed "lectro shocking" OJ at any point in the saga. Second, Anthony was just doing a second-rate Howard Stern blackface impression, which wasn't even that funny when Stern did it.

For me, it was Joe's producing that stood out as first rate, though

The worst (or funniest) part is when "OJ's" lectro-shock hat falls to the side. I assume Joe left that take in there as it was the most "spontaneous" of the lot.

Also it's pronounced OH-jay, not oh-JAY

As Anthony would later put it, that's shoehorning when you stress the wrong syllable.

What a hypocritical faggot he is

Where did people watch the video back then?

Gone Electric Shock OJ

Nice prediction, stupids.

Howard played it for literally less than 10 seconds and said,”you get where this one is going,” and shut it off and moved on.

Is there audio of this

Somebody posted it with a time stamp like a week ago. Hold on hold on hold on. I’ll try and find it

Anyone can make a parody song off the top of their head in like 5 minutes. Weird Al just figured out how to make a career out of it, but it takes zero talent

We did this for fun when I worked kitchens just because we heard the same songs everyday.

And if you don't know, now you know servers

It's not Black Earl song, the only good thing Joe ever did.

Someone should tweet it to OJ and get his thoughts, he has some getting even to do.

(as Dice) It was topical, ohh!
