I haven't heard this in years and listening to it now is so strange with all of the context of what's happened. The last time i heard this I never had an image of Anthony as a guy who had total neglect and disdain for people that he should have been thanking on a daily basis (Opie, his mother etc). I thought of Jimmy as a guy who spoke up when he was pissed off but you can hear how wormishly he caves when the headphones get thrown despite him recently having said repeatedly in retrospect how much he hated Opie. He doesn't say a word because he's scared of him.
Opie wasn't perfect but he's the only one of this group with a spine.
Point taken but I was talking in the context of this video and backing each other up on shit like the Bam sex tape and their other personal vendettas. With the exception maybe of Jill Nicolini and the race rants I can't think of a time when Ant was feuding with someone and Opie didn't back him up and show on air solidarity. Conversely here you have Ant making light of his co-host's personal nightmare which i never read into because he was yet to abandon his mother in a dementia ward.
In general terms, you are 100% right though. They all kept quiet for the money. I'm not "all in with the bit" but I find myself playing devils advocate for Opie sometimes because of how much i hate the other 2
I mean I don’t really get what Opie’s doing here, though. He just wants to bring this to the show but inject no humor into it? All he’s doing is making it worse for himself and his wife. At least when Anthony or Jimmy brought personal to the stuff it was funny
True, and O&A couldn't possibly have expected to go through their careers pissing on everyone's oatmeal and not make enemies like this. But this one was a big deal at the time. Page 6 article about his wife in a sex tape with Bam? most people with the freedom to say anything to an audience like his would react like this too. Of all the shit that got flung at O&A while on air, that was the dirtiest, most public and it stuck to them the longest. We still joke about it here.
