I've thought this for a while. P-Titty's relationship was probably on the rocks for sometime but he would have been totally oblivious given his level of self-absorption. Adrienne was likely having an affair for some time, moving closer to ditching Pat for her new love interest and once she discovered she was pregnant (knowing it was not P-Titty's child) finally decided to make the move away from him and start a new life with the person she actually wanted to be with.

And he’s friends with pedophiles, Adrienne didn’t want her child anywhere near that mess. A wonderful, loving mother just protecting her offspring.
