Hello /r/opieandanthony I just wanted to say a few words about reporting links and posts. A few people have been reporting peoples posts and links that they don't agree with. The mod team has decided a long time ago that we aren't going to remove any posts based on content. If there is something you don't like just skip over it. When you report a post we have no idea why it's being reported.

So if there is something that is against the rules that you need to report Please message the moderators and let us know why you are reporting.

Also if you aren't familiar with Reddiquette please give it a read. We shouldn't be downvoting things just because we disagree with them or because we don't like them.

If you feel that you can't hang in a place where the people in charge won't censor stuff for you check out Wackbag

Lastly thanks for building our community in the past 5 or 6 months we have grown from 100 subscribers with a post maybe once a week to almost 2,000 subscribers with multiple posts each day. Remeber if you see people mentiong O&A or Norton on reddit invite them to /r/opieandanthony

If you submit a link or a self post and for some reason it's not showing up please message the mods so that way we can approve it. For some reason certain peoples submissions go straight to the spam filter. I'm not sure why it does that so if you know how to fix that please let us know.

People actually report things they don't like on the internet? You'd figure someone being a fan of O&A wouldn't be such a sensitive pussy.

There are A LOT of sensitive babies here. I just went through and cleared out about 10 different reported comments. It happens so often that we had to make this announcement.

Yes you know I don't dislike you guys or anything. I happen to like you as a person and I'm friendly with two of the other mods there. Although I haven't visited the site in a long time because I lost interest. I like Reddit better for a few reasons there are tons of subreddits dedicated to a ton of topics, with messageboards I find the post counts and massive signatures to be annoying.

I should be clear here we aren't trying to compete with wackbag or anything like that. Everyone should post wherever they want to. Also I shouldn't have singled you out since RonFez.net loves locking and deleting threads also :)

The one thing I like about reddit is that there are no post counts and no massive signatures. It's not just WB that is like that there are other forums that I visit that are worse with the signatures. I usually will visit them with my mobile device or use the mobile forum skin so it strips away all the BS.

It wasn't me who reported anything (wouldn't know how to) but I imagine it's probably due to all the haters and their pointless comments on here.

If you hate certain members of the show, why do you listen? If you're not a fan, why are you here? Making multiple topics and responding to every thread about how certain people suck is just childish and asinine. It clogs this sub-reddit from useful information, makes the show look bad, makes the pests look bad, makes this community look pointless, and is just generally stupid.

All three hosts have come out STRONGLY against the haters and message board dorks who have nothing better to do than hate. This is supposed to be a fan forum, no?

p.s. Lil Jimmy sucks too.

First off we aren't here to make the show look good or to make the show happy. We are here to talk about the show, whether it be stuff we like or don't like. The reason O&A hated messageboards was because they couldn't control them. Back in the day Anthony used to have people remove stuff from boards because he didn't like it and if he didn't get his way he would threaten to sue or cry for 3 hours about it.

This is reddit and you are new here so you might not know how things work. Anybody can say whatever they want. The easiest way to kill a subreddit is to start censoring it. If you don't like what someone is posting start your own post. People always say how people are ruining something the easiest way to change it to start a new conversation.

The original post was not posted so we all could debate what can and can't be posted here it was posted to say stop reporting posts and if you do please message us with a reason

Except that you encourage people to bring people here from other postings about o&a and jimmy. Why would people want to come follow a show where their own fans hate them? You're excited about the growth here and I assume you want more members, right?

I think the guys point is it's up to you to decide whether or not "hater" comments are ruining the fun for you. The only people I've noticed constantly hating are the anti-Opie people. That's been happening forever, it's not going to change. Just laugh it off. IMO it's so absurd to really hate anyone on the show, all you can do is laugh at it.

I don't know what to tell you just move on from a thread if you don't like what you are reading, that's what I do. If you want more positive show stuff then make more positive posts. How many positive self posts or links did you submit from your other account ?

If you hate O and A that's fine. Listen to something else. If you like the show but you are burnt out, take a break. I've had to do this myself.

I still don't understand why someone would go so far out of their way to hate. I fucking hate hard pretzels, but you don't see me over at /r/hardpretzels bitching and creating new accounts to hatespam.

Some clarification:

The main purpose of this message is to quell the recent surge of frivolous reports in this subreddit, specifically on several users who need not be mentioned.

We want to promote freedom of expression in this community. Some people will use that freedom liberally to share disagreeable or even inflammatory opinions, and you have every right to disagree.

However, reporting another user for sharing their opinion will not accomplish anything. We will never act on such a report, and will always go out of our way to re-approve any comments or links that have been auto-removed by multiple false reports.

The report button is here for the purpose of removing spam and irrelevant links; it is not a tool for disagreement.

I've reported a few rude comments for entities that are out of scope for the show. For instance: critical comments of Sam's wife are not appropriate.
