I interned under Steve for 3 months, just before he was fired (I was there that day)...very very nice guy, actually taught me a bunch about audio production
"The executive producer position was eliminated" was XM's shitty line. It was a RIF by XM/Sirius after the merger. They got ERock to do Steve's job for his "shitty producer" pay and they don't have to pay e-p money, whatever that is. Anyway, less head count.
This is around the same time that ESD was pushing to be paid like talent and not a producer.
just confirmed by @OpieRadio
Yes Steve Carlisi aka @foundrymusic has died. We are deeply saddened and heartbroken. Our thoughts go out to his beautiful wife and son.
Twitter: @AnthonyCumia: Life, ugh.
Bye Steve.

Steve was a really really nice guy. I met him a few times at XM when I used to go in with a friend, who had been getting a lot of airtime thanks to Ant.
From how the boys spoke about it on the show, it almost sounded like it wasn't a 'natural' occurrence. They talked about how it wasn't expected and how 'angry' his wife was. Anyone suspect it was a suicide?
Either way, it's a real loss. The bits he produced were so awful and hilarious. Plus he gave us all "Yesssssss" and "RAMMOONE!"
I thought the same thing, because E-rock just spoke with him, and also when erock first told how he found out Opie said something along the lines of telling him not to say too much, meaning don't say how, and suicide is the only way where you wouldn't want to say
The way E-Rock stumbled at one point saying "when i heard, um, that he, that he...died." is what really sticks out as telling to that possibility. I hope not, but there was a certain sense of avoidance in the way they were all addressing the situation. I met him a few times and didn't find him to be so welcoming, but I was definitely in drunken, over-eager fan mode, so I don't necessarily blame him. I really did enjoy him on the show & his endurance for accepting so much abuse over the years. Think of all the bits & inside jokes/references that arose out of Steve's contributions & presence. Sigh, Again...I hope we're wrong, but my thoughts are with his family & friends.
actually I was jabbing him a little when his wife got knocked up, like "how did two chicks make a baby, jk congrats" and his wife tore into me and they both blocked me. She said "hes off air" ... yeah well, you put your twitter on air, it's an extension of your persona.
Incidentally, Anthony also blocked me and doesn't know why. I spoke to him about it on air and he was unapologetic. I <3 Opie :p

steve was the reason i made ronfez.net. I only met him maybe three times, but he was such a nice guy. This is just so sad.
25 Folmz 2012-07-12
Someone on wackbag just said "the boys should take the next couple Monday's off and play Steve best ofs" that made me laugh.
17 zagman76 2012-07-12
Well... for the foreseeable future anyway.

What was he fired for?
3 harriswill 2012-07-12
Yesss they flipped format tooo.. to sports talk and I know nothing about contact sports or sports with balls, other then, balls in my mouth.
Sorry I haven't been this sad since Patrice, I really need to find a life outside of O&A.
5 sephirJoeth 2012-07-12
I interned at O&A, same time as Nervous Oscar

I also am interested in this
1 sephirJoeth 2012-07-12
an AMA of a former intern would not be very interesting
1 sephirJoeth 2012-07-12
what would you like to know?
0 abomb999 2012-07-12
What was it like? Do O&A hate each other as much it feels like?
3 WayneRooneysHairPlug 2012-07-12
It could have something to do with the fact he wouldn't give up control of opieandanthony.com and all of the videos he uploaded unless they paid him.

So far only Cringe Humor and The White Riot has confirmed it on twitter.
Sam did say that he blew out his lap-band and the sutras got infected so if that spread to his primary organs he could've fallen into shock.
Better consult Dr. Gay for details.
UPDATE: Another tweet, this time from somebody that works at Sirius, although this guy and his show looks like it should be jocktobered.
UPDATE 2: Obviously cats out of the bag. Everyone on the show has sent out their condolences.
FINAL UPDATE: OAPedia has confirmed his death.
5 rahtin 2012-07-12
That is beyond fucked up.
It really shows the problem with that surgery. It's a temporary, physical fix for a mental/emotional problem.
2 abomb999 2012-07-12
jesus fucking christ!
1 VictorRomeo 2012-07-12
Opie also confirmed on his Twitter
9 theronin23 2012-07-12
Steve was one of my favorite parts of the show. When he left, I stopped listening nearly as religiously. I met him way back when, super nice guy.
RIP Steve.

5 Landeyda 2012-07-12
If true I wonder if the boys will mention it. I know he didn't leave on bad terms, but it seems like they don't like talking about him much.
4 theronin23 2012-07-12
Because he really was a piece of why they hate SiriusXM so much.
2 TheToolMan 2012-07-12
They actually brought him up a few weeks ago if I recall. And of course we get the occasional, "YESSSS!"
5 dumpydouche 2012-07-12
Nonononono. I miss the days when every production piece was violent toward women.
1 [deleted] 2012-07-12

4 zenlogick 2012-07-12
Fuck if its true thats really shitty. RIP and thoughts and prayers to his family.
For the record Steve C was the shit even in his mediocrity.
1 nikolam 2012-07-12
I always thought his production pieces were better than anyone else they've ever had.
