Do you think they'll do anything to mark the occasion? Or even acknowledge it?

Bittersweet day for the boys. It was all downhill from there. Actually makes me want to cry how they were sacrificed.

Here's audio for those who have never heard it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMYn853UBBQ

Getting fired was the best thing that ever happened for their careers, it made them millionaires.

I disagree. I kinda feel like now they're so rich some of that fire is gone. They say it's because management is always their killjoy, but they were saying that back at WNEW too. Only thing that changed is they're filthy rich.

The "ICE CUBEEEEEEEEEE" incident is a perfect example. They're all clowning on Opie and he actually says to Sam "I'll just go look at my bank account to make me feel better". That gave me douchechills, and not in the good way lol.

The money is not what made them lazy, they have always been lazy. Now that they don't have to worry about ratings, station format flips, being fired for not performing they are even more lazy. Their interviews with big guests are usually horrible because they never consume whatever media (book, movie, album) the guest is coming in to promote.

Also they don't have to worry about language restrictions anymore when they did they had to be creative to describe stuff now they can just come out and say it. Sure Satellite radio is nice that it's uncensored but if it wasn't I wouldn't mind because they would then have to use their creativity to do what they do. At this point I would say all they are doing is collecting a pay check, they are obviously bored and it shows.

I'm sure everything you listed is part of it, but financial security has to be a component too. Jimmy seems to be the only one who is even remotely interested in what most of their guests are promoting (if it's not a movie).

Ant's bit with the censor bleep button was hilarious. They were doing the Kimmel skit years before it was on TV, and it was great.

True, but popularity means a lot to them, and they fell of the face of the Earth for a while there. They are still recovering.

You can't honestly think that WNEW was the pinnacle of their career. They got away with SO much in the XM era (and even the XM/Free FM era on the XM side) that they wouldn't have even dreamed of doing on WNEW.

In terms of ratings and number of consistent listeners/fans, it was the pinnacle.

Creatively, XM was awesome.

Oh, ok, I get what you mean. Yeah, you're right there.

Excellent. That is a great way to put it.

I bet Getting Topical with the Sex Man will have a little obscure hint.

He'll probably pick something stupid, like the Beatles playing at Shea Stadium.

Or Neal Diamond's Cracklin' Rose.

I missed the early XM days, but loved the WNEW days. I would really work my daily schedule around the show back then. Can't imagine how good those early shows must have been. Any specific episodes/highlights I should go back and check out?
