Well, they've been on a long damn time. What do you really want from them? For fucks sake, do you want them to pussy down and toe the line? Or do you want them to do what they've always done and do their thing all the way till the final your moms box? The show was SO bad, which is why I wondered if it tied into Anthony calling-in "sick" and some other backstage shenanigans. Something is going on.... they might already know there won't be a show...

This makes sense. I think if they do come back it most definitely will not be a 5 day a week show. Maybe 2-3 days - which, honestly, may be better. Like people said above, when they got it going on the show is unstoppable; but sometimes it just feels like they should take the day off and put on a friend's podcast.

Well if you've listened as much as I have you'd know exactly what's been going on since 2009; what turns them on and off, contract situations, guest situations, studio situations, you don't have to read too much further into more than what you hear.

I think Ant's alcoholism is catching up with him. Whooping cough? Come on dude, you were just sick a couple weeks ago.

Opie has been checked out for months and he's starting to piss me off by blowing off every guest. Nobody wants to hear you bitch about wanting to go home for 20 more minutes. Bring in the damn guest already.

Opie complains because he has nothing else to say, and he knows people will tune out if he talks about his kid too much. And since his entire life is hanging out with his kid...

My to 2p on this:

Opie and Anthony provide some of the best radio out there when they are on. It can come completely out of the blue like Andrew Dice Gay or Ted's Emporium. But sometimes it is painful to listen to.

"Tax Talk" or "Leave the Millionaires Alone!" crap just pisses me off.

Opie is the Captain - he does not drive the show like Jim or Anthony but he stops it from stalling, keeps it on track and goes to break when the two comic folks run out of steam. When Opie stops performing or does not show up, the show turns into a clusterfuck.

I can understand they are not happy with the current management but they did choose this position. Terrestrial radio is dead, and talk is no longer a viable format due to the legal and political problems.

I don't think a podcast would support their current lifestyle. Mark Maron does all right with 300K in WTF downloads but they probably could not do the interviews or get access to the comedians that he gets on his show. The only reason that Maron supports himself is that he gets more road gigs through the show. The podcast itself is just a really good method to plug his dates.

The only others I know who use podcasts to monetise are political folks but they also work on terrestrial radio networks and I do not see any stations carrying O&A or Just O.

They always get a little stressed with one another during re-negotiations. But this time it seems a little worse than the others. No one seems into it anymore, Anthony looks like he's leveraging himself to start doing LFTC and Opie wants to start bankrolling/producing movies or something like that. I don't know if they'll re-sign or not (I hope they do), but the show's been lacking lately. Everyone's self-interested.

Fuck Opie an his movies. He thinks he's Ron Howard because he walks around New York with a Flip Cam or whatever he's using now.

I honestly think that management/ the lawyers is a huge part in this, and I'm not just buying Opie's line because I like him. The shit that went down with the Cleveland show is enough for me to see that the people surrounding the show don't care enough about the program to carefully make sure everything is executed , and when the boys have to deal with this shit for years on end i don't blame them for getting tired of it.

On the other hand none of the other shows have the problems that O&A do. You have to wonder if they are really getting fucked with their whole career or if they are their own worst enemy and they cause all these problems.

The show has been having a tough time since Patrice passed. Patrice added so much to the show. His point of view really compimented and contrasted O&A's perfecly when they talked about the news. He came with new angles to old topics or topics the boys have difficulty getting into on their own. He even complimented Jimmy's fanboy style with guests by not caring who they are or being impressed by them. A big part of the show is gone forever, and the enthusiasm of the talent (aside from sam) went with him. The guys barely took a day off to mourn and reassess and then back to work to bring the funnny. I think this is something that is still hurting these guys. Opie seems like he's the only one keeping his shit together probably cuz of his kid. Ants drinking and twittering with teenagers, Jimmy is depressed and cant sleep, and Bob is eating himself to death. All of this compounded by poor management, changing technology and politics and an obvious dissatisfaction with their status, i think the show is done. That or it will be drastically different than what it is.

Opie's a douche (even more so than usual) and Ant's not in to be the ying to his yang. Yeah, screw space. Lets tweet about the Kardashians and Snookie LOL!
