Bill Burr may be the lone exception of funnier on stage than on the show. Also Patrice could have been funny on stage but he was clearly too lay to write material since he was doing the same set for like 10 years.

I agree. I have seen some of Patrice's stand-up and it did seem like his act did not evolve much and was not very fresh. Think about this: Elephant in the Room was in 2011. It has a fucking Natalie Holloway joke as one of its most prominent bits. She died in 2005.

I like them all better in studio, except Burr like the poster above. In Patrice's case, his habit of leaving sentences unfinished is awkward on stage. His 2 best movements for me were the Gaga bashing in studio, and the sight of him using Kevin Hart as a ventriloquist's dummy on Tough Crowd. You can replay both several times and they stay funny.

He was good on air when they called him out for making Cheppelle quit his show.

Jim’s act is him trying to copy George Carlin & Colin Quinn. I’m not saying he stole their bits, but he def stole their timing & formula. The setups and explanations are uncanny.

I remember when this came out, I gathered my family around the tv and told them how great this comedian was. Five minutes in they had all went on to do something else in the house and I continued watching it in silence.

Almost as bad as when I went out and bought the March of the Penguins rip off that Lewis Black was pushing.

The older I get, the more I appreciate comics that are just silly and not trying to make 'legitimate points' about things. I saw Dave Attell in January for the first time in a couple years, and it was so fucking great. Just dumb riffs and dick jokes and embarrassing stories. There was a punchline every 11 seconds, you didn't have to think about shit. I used to love "think-y" NY comedy, now I can't stand it.

Colin Quinn had it right. He really does have Rodentia qualities.
