Elliot's uncle was "Murray Offen" a pornography tycoon and adult film producer. Dude basically ran porn in New York in the 70s.
Elliot's Uncle was a porn theater king in Times Square and ran a pretty big empire which is why Elliot could get away with sketchy stuff. They had a podcast about his porn tycoon uncle and heres the highlights.
Elliot's mom was OCD and a germ freak and passed it down to him.

He kidnapped his 2 year old daughter and took off for 7 years
He ran a fraudulent scam getting companies to lend him products on consignment and he would later sell them and not pay the suppliers. Eventually made 30 million dollars on the scam. Murray Offen got him a high powered lawyer who managed to get him a 2 year sentence.
Uncle Murray bailed Elliot and his dad Sam out of the Joe Corson assault for $7500 which was enough to pay for Joe's teeth.
Elliot isn't the typical stern retard wackpacker. He had two personas, tricked 25 federal investigators and ripped off 30 million worth of stuff. Also, he called Stern a bitch several times so he isn't as horrible as other people in my book. When High Pitch Erik tried to fight him and he called Erik a fat bitch, that was great radio.
