Honestly this is a nice story ruined because this guy is an attention seeking prick. But then again this kind of stuff is what gives some people hope so I don’t know- modern deracinated life is clearly taking its toll and maybe fake connectedness is better than compete detachment.

It's the attention seeking I reacted to. You may be right re. detachment vs contact; personally I'd rather have none than something based on a false premise, but I could imagine some would take comfort in it.
