I'm not an OTR trucker but I own 3 trucks for my farm/ranch. The profit margin is miniscule and the availability of "good food" is worse. I do enough trucking personally to get the jist.
It’s not really. What’s difficult at times is finding one. You have to realize we can’t take these 70 foot vehicles where you can go in your Eclipse. I stay away from the road food now, bringing most of my weekly food with me when leaving home. A combination of that and riding my bicycle 35-40 miles 4 days a week helped me lose 70 pounds last year.
But working 14 hour days, 65-70 hours a week kind of grinds you down and most guys out on the road just grab whatever is cheap and available. Go to a truck stop sometime, and see what they actually have and how we get raped on the prices to boot. The price gouging is fucking sickening.
