There has to be a sense of rebelliousness for these shows to work because the comedy style is very subversive. Ant's comedy is no longer subverting or rebelling against anything when he owns the network and everyone feels they have to laugh at his jokes because he's the owner. Opie subverted the race stuff Ant is obsessed with to some degree.
