I have been re-watching this show from the beginning and god damn it was funny as hell. The first season isn't quite as mean spirited but it's still good. By the second season it's just rapid fire insults from beginning to end. I am currently in the middle of season three and some of the episodes made me cry from laughing so hard.
I think what made the show great was that every character was funny and insulting in their own ways. Nobody felt like dead weight or a voice of reason. I think characters like Kelly and Steve were just as funny as Al.
Doing the same. First two seasons were kind of skippable by comparison to the rest of the show, but it starts to pick up in season 3. By season 5 it's full-on screaming from the audience every time a character comes walking through the door, and everything up through the end is solid. I'm up to 7 now and even with the aborted new kid showing up for a while, it's still good.
Might be the only instance of a show actually improving and hitting its peak when Ted McGinley shows up as a regular cast member, rather than signalling the end is near.
