Television is the most overrated fucking medium ever. Of course these serialized binge dramas are better than the episodic TJ Hooker shit of the 80s, but this serialization craze was started by The Sopranos in 1999, and nobody has been able to surpass it. The only thing that comes close is Mad Men.
The Sopranos is the Godfather of television. It's one of the few things that is acclaimed when it came out, popular when it came out, acclaimed to this day, and popular to this day. Most "great" works of art get 1 or 2 of those over time.
Stupid Jimmy waited until the series was basically over to actually check it out. He didn’t want his comedian friends’ love of the show to influence his opinion of it. Meanwhile he could’ve been promoting the show during its run and maybe it would’ve gotten some more recognition which it absolutely deserved. Just thinking about him makes my blood boil.
I'd say it was good overall as entertainment but not definitely not great or artistically valuable. It's ultimately just a politically correct, romanticized depiction of the ghetto. The character Omar, for instance, is laughable. White liberals couldn't get enough of that gangster fag character.
Yeah breaking bad is easily the best show besides sopranos, game of thrones was great but after season 5 it turned into complete crap when they let the tv people take over the story and turned it into a dumbed down disney version of what it was, but this Ozark show was surprisingly almost on the level of BB, which I never expected to see again in this age of crap
Breaking Bad is not very good in retrospect. There's nothing to think about once it is over. It is pulp entertainment at best. The Sopranos is a work of art that grows the more you watch it. I liked Breaking Bad but I don't think it has the artistic merit everyone gives it.
Idk if it's overrated as much as extremely difficult to pull off (at least the 10-13 episode per season serialized drama model). We've ran potentially the best medium for long term character development into the fucking ground over the last 10 years. People like David Chase and David Simon are so far and above your average television writer/creator's talent it's not even comparable.
Everyone now has a 6 season vision of some story that's basically just their version of Breaking Bad or some other better, groundbreaking thing from the past and just end up being strung out and full of filler/dead end plotlines.
If I was a very good looking woman, I'd fuck you good. I mean even if I was an average looking woman I'd fuck you but I thought if I was good looking it would be a treat. Anyway I'm a big fat straight man but do you wanna buttfuck me? I think I would allow it.
Hello, thank you for your interest. I do want to inform you, however, that I am not taking television show recommendations at this time. I apologize for this inconvenience. Thank you, and I appreciate your understanding.
Nah, i like it, but it’s too campy. The writing’s got too much networkish cheese on it, not up to the standards of the best cable shows. A good show, but not great.
It’s low rent BB. I honestly don’t see how anyone who even vaguely knows about BB could enjoy it. I like Bateman a lot but it’s just a derivative pile of turkey. Game Night is a fantastic movie if you wanna watch Bateman in something good.
I made it to the first half of season 2 and lost interest. Season 1 already felt like too much of a chore to watch all the way through. Babylon Berlin and the new Narcos season kicks it right in the balls in terms of Netflix crime dramas.
I liked Ozark a lot and I hate everything. Laura Linney is sexy to me for an old broad too. She got nude in a few movies when she was younger great milkers.
People still gush about the so-called golden age of tv but I can’t get into anything anymore. It all becomes background noise while I’m consumed by other screens. Could not explain what exactly happened in the first two eps of True Detective s3 due to overriding lack of interest. Nothing today close to the standard set by Sopranos, The Shield, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad (I think the hot air surrounding The Wire has thankfully been let out at least a little since it was declared sacred by tools straining to appear hip). I’d be tickled pink to have a current show right now I liked half as much as Boardwalk Empire, which everyone bitched about during its airing for not being Sopranos. Game of Thrones is not a great show anymore because the storytelling takes too much of a backseat to the spectacle, but it will admittedly be very exciting when the upcoming, final season airs.

It’s okay. I love Bateman, but I’m struggling with the show.

Did you ever see Breaking Bad?
1 DianaKurlan55 2019-01-19
I'd say that's the third best show ever, tied with The Wire.
But like most shows it's maddeningly inconsistent and obviously the product of 17 writers.
1 Virginia_Beach 2019-01-19
Fuck the Wire. I’m so sick of people saying that show was good. It was okay, not good, certainly not great.
1 Terahite 2019-01-19
The Wire was “not good”? Do you have a dog in this fight?
1 Virginia_Beach 2019-01-19
It was nowhere near as good as Jimmy makes it out to be.

Yeah the standard for greatness in TV and even film is laughable.
1 WilliamHenryJustice 2019-01-19
Nah, there are still great movies
1 movement23 2019-01-19
I don't think there were ever that many great films
1 WilliamHenryJustice 2019-01-19
I guess you don’t like the medium haha
1 WilliamHenryJustice 2019-01-19
I think TV used to be expected as something different. Now it's so cinematic it's not even really TV.
1 movement23 2019-01-19
The cinematic aspect is relatively superficial IMO. None of it has any artistic value.
1 WilliamHenryJustice 2019-01-19
Yeah that’s a great what to put

True Detective was pretty great, for one season anyway.

That first season is 10/10

The show Patriot on Amazon is the best new show in 10 years. Doesn’t beat Sopranos, but it’s up there. Two seasons on Prime, both are great.

It's not that good. Season 2 stunk.

My friend keeps recommending it but it sounds too much like breaking bad for me to want to try it

My nigga, Game Night was terrible.

I expected it to be but was pleasantly surprised. Rachel McAdams was great. It’s not a hill I’d die on or anything but I enjoyed it.

Nothing has surpassed “Wagon Train” from the 50’s. That’s how awful TV is.
1 movement23 2019-01-19
I don't know wagon train but I'm gonna agree

There’s a difference between ‘my favorite’ and the best. My favorite season of tv is Fargo S2, if you wanna get on that good shit.
1 MonsieurObloquy 2019-01-19
I'm in season 1 and it's pretty fucking great.

It got dull after a while, and I was annoyed at characters' dumb decisions and behavior.
