I don't get sad when people I don't know die, especially if they lived a long life.
But I was bummed as hell when Don died. Rickles was the last of the ballsy comics, and even though he'd always end his shows being nice to people to make up for his crass jokes, that was more for his own conscience than to actually cover his ass from controversy. He was a legit good dude, lots of people in the industry have backed that up (Scorsese, Bob Newhart, DeNiro, Craig Ferguson, Letterman), and he was faster with a quip than anyone I've ever seen. He was still funny as fuck near the end, even while talking to people like Snoop Dogg.
He’s my favorite of all-time actually (next to Colin of course). Rolling Stone should be firebombed for putting him at #23 all-time behind Kevin Hart and Bill Burr.
