I need some explanation on everyone's opinions of Opie, Ant and Jim

I'm not exactly an O&A fan, I've only watched cherrypicked videos of discussions over the past couple years. 99% of the time, Opie was the one getting universally shit on for how unfunny and useless he was, and I completely agreed with that, and Ant and Jim were praised for being the exact opposite. Now I always thought they are all gargantuan scumbags with how happy they are to harass and bully people, good examples coming to mind are Linda Blair and Sarah Jessica Parker. But at least Ant and Jim were funny and carried hours of discussion.

Why is Opie now supported and Ant and Jim despised? It's like the fanbase took a complete 180 on their views on each of them, even going so far as to say thing like "I've always hated Ant and Jim, Opie was always the best one" when that is clearly not true for every single person claiming it.

So why the huge change? I don't care about the O&A "extended universe" that deals with a bunch of additional people and groups and intertwining character arcs, I've only cared about these three.
