I went to the comic strip like 10 days ago and Joe Matarese performed. I was going to record the set for all of you but I didn’t. He came out and got a few cheap laughs in the beginning but oh boy it was all downhill from there. None of the people I was with laughed at a single thing he said. For the most part the place was silent and it was extremely uncomfortable to watch. He even did like 5 minutes about Rocky Baloboa in 2018. Not even something relevant like jokes about the movie Creed. Nope he was doing Rocky 3 jokes (I wonder if he’s been doing that bit for 25 years straight?). So yeah, I can objectively confirm that Joe Matarese is a terrible comic. I’ll sctually take it to the next level (and I say this 100% honestly without bias), I’ve seen about 50-100 live comedy sets before in my life and Joe Matarese is the worst comic I’ve ever seen live. My friends I was with even said he sucked. That dude Paul Mercurio was one of the other comics on the bill and he wasn’t good but he looked like Chapelle in his prime by comparison.
