I noticed he had to replace or sumthin, g'head, & n shiiit with this new tag after the Jerky Boys allegations surfaced. Pathetic fucking weasel couldn't just own up to his theft. No wonder he defended that fat pig Schumer.
I MAY HAVE HEARD THAT JERKY BOYS CLIP, I DON'T REMEMBER, BUT CHIP EVOLVED...
I absolutely found Chip funny at comic con and with the cab driver. The "bit" is doing it with unsuspecting people who are made uncomfortable and fear he is retarded.
Doing it for other 55 yr old comic friends in on the joke is a different thing
He reminds me of that dopey uncle who thinks he's a political expert because he listens to Rush Limbaugh. Norton is terrible at everything he does. People like Bill Burr and Colin feel bad for him.
A sad and very overplayed bit. Unfortunately Chip has more fans than Norton has. Pretty soon Norton is going to have to split his stage time between himself and Chip.
It's Jimmy's "I didn't do it", when Chip would pop on in the middle of a show out of left field it was appreciated but once Jim's comedy well dried up he thought an entire podcast of Chip was a good idea....he was wrong.
Look it wasn't terrible when it was a one off non sequitur during a lull in a conversation on the show. Once it became a podcast I knew it was going to be shit
That's exactly what he wants Norton to think. The mutant cocksucker is giving him enough rope to hang himself. Everything is a backstabbing long game to the McNugget mongrel.
I'm just gonna come out and say it. I listened to the chip podcast the first several weeks and thought it was funny. I'm embarrassed about it and don't listen anymore, but I'm just bein' honest wit 'cha.
I stink.
Chip was good in dosages, when he was actually stopping the flow of REAL comedy. The whole point of chip was he wasn’t really supposed to be there. A whole hour of chip cutting people off with crappy jokes doesn’t work when that’s what everyone is expecting.
Yeah the organic & spontaneous Chip that was the original character on the show was funny. Trying to distill him into any kind of pre-arranged bit or scenario never worked for me. The first live show where he had Colin introduce him and he tried to get Lauren to marry him was the only one I ever laughed at. Aside from that the whole character can go fly a kite. (Pardon my french)
Exactly. When it started, he was the awful co-worker that everyone's had, putting the brakes on the conversation with non-jokes. Then "Chip evolved" as Jim would say in third person, and became...I don't know, a psychopath who wears funny clothes?
Yup! The way he's dressed looks like the kind of guy who only listens to Ozzy Kiss and Black Sabbath because he never evolved past middle school. Oh shit, Chip is Actually Jim's inner self
Man, you're really pushing this "I totally hated Jimmy before everyone else did" like you were listening to the popular band on the radio when they were playing dingy dive bars. But I'll play along with the prompt for shits and giggles.
Chip was funny, the problem is Jim didn't realize how to adapt the character. You can't have the idiot character by himself. When there were 6 Friends, it worked, when dumbass Joey left to do a spinoff it failed. On That 70's Show, you needed the other characters around Kelso. Jim surrounded the Chip character with really weak side characters that don't play off the humor. Here's Club Soda Kenny doing a Club Soda Kenny voice. Here's my ex that I'm still in love with doing a hacky "badass bitch that always has the upper hand" telling Chip to stick his cock in a hornet's nest. Those are the two I remember from the Chip show, apart from "oh look it's Uncle Paul chasing a baby down the street ha ha".
The problem with Chip is he's supposed to be the problem. Interrupting the flow of the show, going to break on bad punchlines, making an interviewee uncomfortable. The pure manifestation of idiotic ID, saying whatever dumb thought pops into his mind. Like that show Wilfred a couple years back, with Elijah Wood and a guy in a dog suit named Wilfred. Wilfred causes the problem, Elijah spends the rest of the episode trying to fix it. The consequences don't matter to Wilfred because he's a dog who nobody will ever blame, similarly they don't matter to Chip because he's a buffoon. This really isn't advanced screenwriting, it's basic storytelling. Do you ever see Jerry bungle some sort of deal forcing Kramer to make everything right, or is Kramer the one typically creating problems and issues for Jerry?
I talked to him on the phone and told him all this, he didn't listen. Center the show around "straight man" comedian Jim, and have Chip be the brother or roommate or best friend or voice in the head or whatever whose idiotic blurtouts force Jim to have to scramble and pick up the pieces. Struggling stand-up comic in NYC who can't leave his rent-controlled apartment he shares with Chip & Uncle Paul - anyone of us could brainstorm 4 episodes going off that premise. He never heard of Wilfred and had nothing to base it on because it isn't porn. He cancelled the cartoon, pocketed the money, and once again failed to utilize the character properly by doing the podcast.
Man, you're really pushing this "I totally hated Jimmy before everyone else did" like you were listening to the popular band on the radio when they were playing dingy dive bars.
Is it really so hard to imagine someone somewhere never liked Jim Norton? Jesus fuck.
I was in genuine disbelief how an otherwise funny sub thought this stupid character was so funny. Jerky Boys & Bubbles existed over a decade before this dumb piece of shit & were done 100x better.
If you accuse me of being some 'I only like the underground bands, maaaan', nevermind that those shows/characters were more popular & mainstream than this desperate worm will ever be. But I guess I'm probably just missing the fact that... Chip evolved...
Chip is funny when he has good ppl to work off of like Ant, Sam and Bobby.

It quickly turns unfunny when it's random people who add fucking nothing and just bring it to a screeching halt like that one random radio guy they brought on for the recent live show they did.
He could make me laugh. I just thought he was very inconsistent. He was a utility outfielder that O&A was putting in the starting lineup. For every funny thing he said, he would follow it up with his typical toe trigger material. I always thought Norton was the least funny of his cellar buddies. Burr, Patrice, Vos, and hell even Bobby were always funnier. I give him serious props for the career he has beating the same topics into the ground. The fact he has IMDB credits alone is INSANE. This guy is the real life version of Hank Kinglsey.
He got whole "Opie is Chip" idea from this sub, after people started comparing the two. That was back when nobody here liked Opie and we had yet to see how awful Jim/chip would become.
I agree about ted sheckler. He should've killed off chip and kept him instead, though by now he'd probably have ruined that character with prop comic shit too.
Initially the podcast was all right. It was the only place any of these people (a) had funny guests and (b) were making an attempt to be funny anymore.
They ran too long and I didn’t find the choice to make Chip a wigger funny but there were some funny moments back when Soder, Colin and Ronnie B were on.
This guy used to brutalize people for being hacks but he did this about eighty times. Wacky clothes, wacky glasses and a catch phrase is the lowest common denominator of comedy somebody can cobble a career out of. He is Alonso Hamburger Jones. Tss Tss might as well be shucky ducky quack quack. He has devolved, not evolved, into being a hacky clothes wearing catch phrase comic douche.
Everyone here thought Chip was funny on the actual O&A show, so stop kidding yourself. When Norton turned Chip into a shitty cartoon and then a shitty hack podcast is when everyone deemed Chip awful. And rightfully so.
Yeah, there were some good bits here and there. Mainly when they wouldn’t tell anyone and they think it’s a legit interview or podcast. When the guy who invented that armor for your little dogs to protect againstt coyotes comes to mind.
Chip is like a throwaway SNL character that somehow caught on with the audience. So it goes through the stages of being fleshed out into a main character, given a catch phrase, and eventually given a full length movie, but by that time you've grown tired of the gimmick and start wondering why you ever found it funny in the first place. It's actually surprising he has been able to keep the gimmick going as long as he has as thin as it's been spread now.
Chip from the original show was a completely different character, and was actually hilarious in small doses. I have no clue what Norton was thinking with the fucking costumes and wigs.
it was funny 8 years ago when chip would come in and bulldoze the moment every once in awhile. it got old really fast when he started doing it every day
Yup! The way he's dressed looks like the kind of guy who only listens to Ozzy Kiss and Black Sabbath because he never evolved past middle school. Oh shit, Chip is Actually Jim's inner self
That's exactly what he wants Norton to think. The mutant cocksucker is giving him enough rope to hang himself. Everything is a backstabbing long game to the McNugget mongrel.

Remember how almost all of Jim's "edgy" jokes would shoehorn an AIDS reference in? I do

Never did.
It's just a vicious circle a person with OCD and other severe mental illnesses fall into. He made a podcast out of it.

He has zero talent. I'm ashamed it took me this long to realise it.
1 UKpariah 2018-11-27
Is this ironic though? I mean, if you want to dislike the guy fine, but talentless? He has one of the sharpest minds in radio.
