I keep the page with the giant playlist of each month open in my browser and just listen through entire episodes. It will stay paused in the area you left it and resume as long as the page is kept open.
The way that I listen to it is usually today's exact date, but 10 or 5 years in the past. A little This Day In R&F History. You'll be listening to the rare gems, and then suddenly next thing you know, you're in the middle of a classic bit you've heard a hundred times but hearing it in complete context makes it even funnier.
This archive starts September 2001, so if you lived through 9/11 this is actually a perfect introduction to the show. You get to be introduced to the show as they drop the act and just talk as themselves with some oddly sincere moral and psychological evaluation, and you get to listen to the show get weirder and stray from its original form from a very relateable period in time (9/11.)
At one point about a week after 9/11, Ron says something to the effect of "Everything we ever did on this show before seems insane to me. The idea of entertainment, reality TV shows, and comedy in general seems unreal now." It was the day the world changed, but on a much smaller scale, it was the day entertainment entered the stifled environment that Ron & Fez had to contend with, and eventually be divided by.
This is the way you do it. There are so many inside jokes and story lines on R&F that you have to listen to it daily to start to get the players involved and all the references. You can’t get the genius of the show by just listening to clips. It’s about the continuity of the entire show.
