Today I found out basically anyone can upload a documentary on Amazon Prime and it shows up in the results alongside Hollywood blockbusters like it's a real movie because the search algorithm is so bad.

Look, 151 pages of Results of Short Documentaries:

I was looking for good documentaries on classic films, like ones made by TCM or Martin Scorsese or something, with my free trial and I kept finding shitty homemade YouTube-quality documentaries made by nobodies.

When I was young I had a ‘Big Book of Facts’ and in it was a chapter all about marine biology. There was a half page photograph of a great white shark and it intimated my 5 year old brain to such a degree I would be too afraid to turn the page.

I used to love those EyeWitness books in elementary. I checked out one from the library one time that was about christianity and it had these brutal pieces of art of people drowning in the flood and demons tormenting people in hell. That shit fucked me up for a while because I thought it was real.

I had one of those books, there was a page with an angler fish I had stapled shut because those fuckers are creepy lookin.

Is it the ones with a transparent page that goes on top so you can turn it and see their guts?

Documentaries are for stupid people. Even Richard Attenborough stuff is heavily dumbed down now, where every clip is about a cute youngling anthropomorphizing his way back to the herd

Finally someone with the balls to take a hard line stance against documentaries.

I watched a documentary about how they build tunnels in Europe. Pretty interesting stuff

What do smart people like you watch? Besides Rick and Morty

There is a world outside your television Ant

But its infinitesmally smaller than the one inside my TV

Perfect.

Porsalin is an artist and deserves a higher search ranking than whatever trash (((Hollywood entertainment))) you're trying to watch.

You mean Black Larry David wasn't a big studio collaboration

Mike Bocchetti is working on something for Amazon Prime. He says so in his blog.https://wp.me/panjqL-u

They’re getting all the movers and shakers in this business we call show!

It's actually the best algorithm in the world, because its a true portal in that it lets users decide the score and rate the movies, while giving everything the same face exposure. It is a completely fair system, which doesn't pander as much to the dog shit Hollywood companies and vampire producers. Also allows for a great deal of amazing schlock.

Far better than scrolling through all the pandering promoted shit on Netflix or even sites like YouTube now.

Perhaps you’re right but the smart tv version of the app doesn’t have any rating system, its features are bare bones making it impossible to find anything.

But I do think Porsalin and Beige have a great opportunity here to get the doc a lot of viewers since they are legitimatly well produced, entertaining, and the inside jokes don’t distract from the info.

Right. Like if I'm looking for something good to read at a library why would I want just books when I can have nonsense fan fiction or scribbles by children or just anything ever written down by anyone.

Yeah, but that situation exists solely within your mind to try and win an argument. The reality of the situation isn't that. Do you have Prime?

That's exactly what it is applied to another form of media. Its not existing solely in my mind, it exists on prime and the reason it doesn't exist in any other media system is because its terrible. False equivelncies and strawmen are not the same as similes and metaphors or direct comparisons. Your argument was ripped from the annals of a political debate and does not fit here showing your lack of clear thought and perspective and lack of critical analysis. Explains both why you agree with this terrible system and your user name.

There would be nothing wrong with having any lunatics ramblings searchable as well but to not have it in its own catagory gives legitimacy to nonsense based solely on skewable ranking

Also yes I have prime

I find the weirdest shit on there it rules. Its like the back rack of a vhs rental place lol

Amazon Prime videos is utter garbage. Its amazing to see something so shit, and poorly planned.
