No, he is going somewhere where other people can keep him away from drugs for awhile so he can heal. He isn't going to quit and get better. Once he is free again he will go right back to it. Ironically jail would have done the same thing and been more effective.
Greg Giraldo - one of the greatest roasters of all time, and Mitch Hedberg - maybe the best joke writer of all time, both died of overdoses; and I'm hoping to see them soon.
